But without a significant reforestation and afforestation plan amongst a host of other things, we are not going to make the requisite emissions cuts soon enough. In other words, we have to do a little more to promote the shift. A gradual change will not be enough - if there is a market opportunity defined by scale and innovation, then the incumbent business models will not constrain a market-based solution. One thing is for sure, biofuels need a lot of work, probably some legislation, and regular scientific review. Sure. What we need are electric cars, with electricity first produced by coal, then gradually shifted to alternative energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal, nuclear, hydroelectric, in that order of preference) I’ve been saying this for a while.
