Facebook Hammers MySpace on Almost All Key Features
MySpace was a great social network for a while, but now there are too many spammers and the developers have stopped innovating. Facebook is just starting to become popular (well, popular with those who were not on it when it was limited to schools). So, you might want to check it out, while it’s still cool.

Something I’ve aready said before. There are some logical flaws in the criteria and arguments, though.

1. Community: Relationships – the author assumes that all people on myspace are friend-happy, while people on facebook are reasonable in their approach. That’s certainly not true. I think that after having a terrible experience with myspace, people figured out that adding infinity friends in not always a good thing, and they decided to be more reasonable on facebook.

2. Design: Customization – the author fails to note that it is the stupid customizations on myspace that makes the site prone to security threats and exploits. On that note, facebook beats myspace by a tonne.

3. Community: Messaging and Usefulness: Communication – I feel like the two criteria should be combined.

4. Ease of Use: Privacy – The author doesn’t mention that facebook not only allows the user to restrict information to people he feels comfortable with, but also allows the user to restrict the type and quantity of information. That gives Facebook a significant advantage in my opinion.

5. Ease of Use: Adding Friends – I don’t know what the author means when he says “adding new friends and accepting friends requests is usually a one click process” on myspace. As far as I know, adding friends on facebook is a one-click process. Approving friends also takes one click. What’s better is that facebook allows either party to add descriptions of how they met. I think this is more useful/advantageous to a generation obsessed with metadata.
